Plans for large new housing development in Kilkenny town edge closer

The local authority is set to rule on whether plans for a large new housing development in a county Kilkenny town will go ahead within the next fortnight.

Developer Andrew Glennon is hoping to build 41 semi-detached and terraced housing units as well as eight residential serviced sites beside Friary Walk, Clashacollare in Callan.

The plans were originally lodged with Kilkenny County Council in March this year. However, before making a decision the local authority reverted to the developer seeking more information on certain aspects of the application.

The developer has since returned to the council with more details in response to heir queries.

The original plans involved the construction of five three-bedroom homes and 36 four-bedroom houses, as well as the serviced sites.

The local authority is expected to make a decision on the application by October 18.
