€500,461 funding boost for Kilkenny, Castlecomer, Gowran and Danesfort community groups

COMMUNITY groups in Kilkenny, Castlecomer, Gowran and Danesfort will receive more than €500,000 in new Government funding.

Details of the funding were announced by Kilkenny councillor Patrick O’Neill (pictured), who was recently added to the Fine Gael ticket in the Carlow-Kilkenny constituency for the next General Election.

Six local groups will receive a total of €500,461 under the Community Services Programme.

These include:
*Gowran Parish Enterprise Group Company (€152,798);
*Danesfort Community Care Centre Company (€20,133);
*Castlecomer Demesne Company (€112,532);
*County Kilkenny Leader Partnership Company (€82,333);
*Kilkenny Community Communications Co-Operative Society (€72,266);
*St Canice’s Community Action Company (€60,399).

The funding to the Kilkenny groups was allocated by the Department of Rural and Community Development.

Welcoming the announcement, Cllr O’Neill said: “These organisations find it hard to survive without these supports from Government and all play important roles within their communities. Today’s announcement with help them to continue the services they provide.”
