EU Commissioner, Kilkenny’s Phil Hogan, made another visit to lockdown county before leaving Ireland: report

Ireland’s EU Commissioner, former Kilkenny TD Phil Hogan, made another visit to the locked down county of Kildare before returning to Brussels, according to reports.

The Irish Independent today revealed Mr Hogan stayed in county Kildare the night before he flew back to Brussels in Belgium last weekend.

However, a spokesperson for Mr Hogan told the newspaper “his stay was not in breach of Covid-19 regulations as he was in Kildare to collect his belongings.”

The news comes less than a day after European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen requested more details regarding Commissioner Hogan’s movements in the run-up to and after the now highly controverisal Oireachtas Golf Society Dinner in Clifden, county Galway, which was attended by 81 people in breach of Covid-19 regulations.
