Fire Service battle blaze at South Kilkenny school

A FIRE erupted at a school in South Kilkenny on Friday night.

The blaze broke out in one of the classrooms at Abbey Community College In Ferrybank.

The Fire Services rushed to the scene and the blaze was quickly brought under control.

A spokesperson for the school said the damage was “minimal” and that classes will resume as normal tomorrow morning.

The school confirmed: “There was a fire in one of our classrooms on Friday night. After stringent health and safety check by the appropriate authorities, our school will reopen for all on Tuesday morning as normal.”
