Five projects receive €40,000 from community grant scheme

A BREAKDOWN of the €250,000 funding as part of Kilkenny County Council’s Community and Cultural Facilities Capital Grant Scheme has been released
Cultural art spaces, playgrounds, sports groups, and scout halls are among the projects benefitting from the funding.
Five projects received €40,000, with the other two receiving €30,000 and €20,000 each.
In all 16 applications were received and seven projects approved for funding. These projects are:
- Freshford Playground Committee – €40,000 for a new playground
- St Canice’s Neighbourhood Hall, The Butts, Kilkenny City – €40,000 to complete a youth centre
- Thomastown Scouts – €40,000 for fire safety work
- Pil River Park, Piltown – €40,000 for new public space
- Trasna Productions Ltd, Callan – €40,000 to convert old building to gallery space
- Mooncoin Celtic, Mooncoin – €30,000 for pitch development and fencing
- Paulstown Development Association – €20,000 for fire safety work
