Pony tale with a happy ending: Joy as ‘very kind’ family adopt distressed horse freed from pen in Kilkenny city

A distressed pony who was freed from an improvised pen at the Hebron Industrial Estate over the weekend will live out the rest of their days in the care of a kind local family.
Kilkenny gardai freed the dishevelled pony from the pen on Saturday after receiving a call from a concerned member of the public.
The officers, with the help of Kilkenny County Council and some “incredibly kind” members of the public, managed to get the poor animal into a temporary refuge.
Now gardai have confirmed the pony has found a loving and permanent home after “a very kind family” fame forward and agreed to care for the animal.
A local Garda spokesperson said on social media: “Great news, a very kind family have come forward and fostered our new friend. He will be cared for and is in great hands. Everyone who has helped knows who we’re thanking. Brilliant stuff.”
They later clarified they were referring to the horse, and not Sergeant Jennings, who is pictured above with the pony just moments after it was freed from the pen!
