Garda appeal over Kilkenny road crash as man (50s) dies from injuries

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a tragic road collision that resulted in the death of a local man after his tractor overturned.

The single-vehicle road fatality occurred last Monday, October 5, at around 3.45pm at Ballyogan, Graiguenamanagh.

Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene after a tractor overturned on the main road.

The male driver of the tractor, who was in his late 50s, was removed to St Luke’s General Hospital in Kilkenny in a serious condition. Tragically, the driver later died as a result of his injuries.

A local Garda spokesperson said: “Gardai at Thomastown are appealing for any witnesses to this collision or for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at this time on Monday 5th October, 2020 between 3.15pm and 4pm to make this footage available to Gardaí.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Thomastown Garda Station on 056 7754150, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”

Gardai said investigations are “ongoing”.
