Good job! Kilkenny’s employment prospects are very bright, report finds

Kilkenny recorded a 24% increase in the number of job postings offered during 2020.

A new report by FRS Recruitment found Kilkenny was one of 12 counties who recorded an increase in the number of opportunities advertised over the past year. And the jobs picture appears to be bright in Kilkenny as FRS is forecasting a 25% increase in job postings nationwide for next year.

FRS Recruitment recorded an overall 36% drop in job postings nationally over the last 12 months, mainly as a result of the pandemic. However, there were significant regional variations.

The largest percentage increases were in Roscommon (up 115.4%), Wexford (up 36.1%) and Kildare (up 26.9%). The greatest decrease came in Westmeath (down 34.3%), followed by Leitrim (down 33.3%) and Dublin (28.3%).

Speaking about the report’s findings, FRS Recruitment General Manager Colin Donnery said: “There is no doubt 2020 has been a challenging year for many sections of the economy, but Kilkenny was able to buck the national trend and actually recorded an increase in the number of job postings advertised last year.

“We would be hopeful that growth should continue over the course of 2021 and that there will be even further opportunities available in Kilkenny and nationwide as the recruitment environment begins to normalise.”
