Horse power: Kilkenny filly favourite to land Curragh Classic

A Kilkenny trained horse looks like it’s going off favourite for the second of the season’s five classics this afternoon.

The Joseph O’Brien trained Pretty Gorgeous heads the betting for the Irish 1000 Guineas at the Curragh this afternoon.

This three-year-old filly hasn’t been seen since landing the Group 1 Filles’ Mile at Newmarket last October where she kept on well over the 1-mile trip to beat the John Gosden trained Indigo Girl by half a length.

Pretty Gorgeous is trained at the gorgeous Owning Hill stables nestled ontop a hill between Tullahought and Piltown, overlooking the Suir. O’Brien also saddles Sense Of Style (25/1) and Thinking Of You (33/1).

The winner of the race will land not just a Grade 1 and a Classic but a cheque for €228,000.

The race goes to post at 3.15pm this afternoon.
