Neglected horses rescued and outhouses demolished in Kilkenny city operation
A number of horses were rescued from lands in Kilkenny in a multi-agency operation earlier this week.
The horses were taken from lands on the Hebron Road in the city in a planned operation organised by Kilkenny County Council and gardai, with the assistance of animal welfare agencies.
The council also removed some buildings erected on the land to shelter the horses as part of the operation.
Welcoming the operation, Cllr Eugene McGuinness said the local authority has demonstrated it is willing to take action if animals are not being cared for.
Cllr McGuinness (pictured below) added: “Horses were impounded and lands cleared of outbuildings in the Hebron Road area, something I have been raising and calling for at council meetings for a number of months now.
“People should be aware that action is being taken and will continue.”
