LATEST: 508 new cases of virus confirmed, Kilkenny bars won’t have to serve €9 ‘chicken nugget’ meals
A further 358 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed this evening as the number of patients being treated for the virus in hospitals across the country remains steady.
The Department of Health reported just 101 people are being treated for the virus in hospitals with 38 in Intensive Care Units, both down just one on Tuesday’s figures.
The county-by-county breakdown of the latest cases are not available due to the cyberattack on the Health Service Executive (HSE).
Meanwhile, Tánaiste Leo Varadkar today confirmed the controversial requirement to have a substantial meal with drinks when pubs reopen next month has now been removed.
Speaking at an Oireachtas Committee, Mr Varadkar confirmed the €9 meal will no longer be required hen outdoor service returns on June 7.
Under the new outdoor rules, up to six people will be gather in a group at one table, the tables must be at least one metre apart and there will be no time limit placed upon visits to the pubs, the Tánaiste confirmed.
