Seven days to go! Local young entrepreneurs urged to enter €50,000 competition before deadline

THE clock is ticking for fledgling local businesses and entrepreneurs to get their applications in for the 2019 Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur competition and be in with a chance of bagging up to €50,000 in prize money.

Now in its fifth year, the competition is open to 18 to 35-year-olds who have an idea for starting a business or who are already running their own company.

Local Enterprise Office Kilkenny has €50,000 in prize money to give away to businesses and entrepreneurs in Kilkenny city and county.

LEO is looking for young entrepreneurs to enter in the three categories: Best New Idea, Best Start Up and Best-Established Business.”

All entrants are invited to an Enterprise Day where they will benefit from some brilliant business advice and mentoring. From there, a shortlist will be invited to an intensive Boot Camp and will move forward the #IBYE County Final.

Eoin Treacy of Glanway Ltd, who was an IBYE finalist last year, said: “The IBYE Competition was a fantastic and transforming experience for myself and our business, from the interesting people I met to the wide spectrum of businesses and ideas encountered throughout the competition you can’t help but be encouraged and inspired.”

He added: “The competition gave us the confidence to drive on with our business and continue to innovate and grow.”

The application process is quick, free and simple, but applications close this next next week on March 15, so time is running out.

Fiona Deegan, Head of Enterprise for Local Enterprise Office Kilkenny, said: “The clock is counting down. We are fast approaching the closing date for applications for Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur. Now is the time for you to visit www.ibye.ie to enter.
