It’s the vinyl countdown! Top local buskers prepare for sing-off live in Kilkenny
By SHANE DORAN
SOME of our most talented buskers will be reaching for the high notes as they battle it out live in the city-centre tomorrow.
Two of our top troubadours will compete for the Golden Discs ‘Golden Buskers’ crown at the Market Cross Shopping Centre, with the winner taking home a much sought after recording bundle.
The Golden Buskers Competition was launched on Roisin Ni Chleirigh’s Woman to Woman Show with KayB on Community Radio Kilkenny City last month.
The semi-finals of the Golden Buskers took place on August 31 in Kilkenny and Wexford, with the final showdown taking place at the Market Cross Shopping Centre at 1pm tomorrow.
The finale features two finalists from Kilkenny and two from Wexford. The finalists are Hallie, Jamie Gibney, Arron Berry and Colm Egan.
Kilkenny’s Golden Discs manager Emma Long said: “Golden Discs are big believers of supporting Irish artists and this project did both for the South East Entrants.”
The winning busker will get to create a professional music video produced by Bearfoot Productions and record a track in studio, which will have 500 copies printed and stocked in all 18 Golden Discs Stores across the country.
They will also receive €250 of vouchers from the Market Cross Shopping Centre.
