Kilkenny burglar flees after failing to break down backdoor

A burglar who attempted an early morning break-in of a Kilkenny house gave up his on his heist after meeting his match in a belligerent backdoor.

The bizarre incident occurred at Garden Villas off the Nuncio Road in Kilkenny city sometime between 9.30am and 1.30pm on Saturday, February 1.

The burglar managed to jump over the back wall of the property and then forced their way into the garage connected to the house which leads to the backdoor. However, try as they may, the burglar was unable to force the door open and eventually gave up and fled the scene.

Gardai are appealing for anyone with information or who may have noticed anything suspicious in the Nuncio Road area last Saturday morning to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000.
