Kilkenny communities under microscope in €193,000 competition

IT’S a big week for communities in Kilkenny as they will be examined as part of an enterprise competition with a total prize fund of €193,000.

Judging is taking place around Kilkenny this week for the National Enterprise Town Awards 2019.

Kilkenny city is first to come under the microscope this afternoon, followed by Callan tomorrow and the Knocktopher, Ballyhale and Knockmoylon Village Renewal Group (KBK) on Wednesday.

Today the judges will be brought on a tour of the city starting at 2pm. They will begin at the castle, before walking through the city taking in the Medieval Mile Museum, St.Canices Cathedral, the Abbey Quarter and much more.

The judges will be in Callan at 2pm tomorrow, while they will start their tour of the KBK at 9am on Wednesday.

The awards recognise the spirit of enterprise in local areas across Ireland, bringing business and community groups together to showcase their efforts to build an economically sustainable community.

There are over 40 awards available from a total prize fund of €193,000 with the overall winner awarded €33,000. The overall winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in December.
