Kilkenny councillor wants St Patrick’s Day parade called off
Kilkenny councillor David Fitzgerald has called for the St Patrick’s Parade in the city to be cancelled.
The Fine Gael member made the call on twitter despite the official position of the Government being that all major events should go ahead.

Mr Fitzgerald’s call has been echoed by some of the country’s leading health professionals with oncologist Dr John Crown, Coombe Hospital obstetrician Dr Carmen Regan and Trinity College immunologist Kingston Mills all saying that celebrations around the country should be put on hold.
As things stand, the Kilkenny parade is due to take place on from 1.30pm on St Patrick’s Day.
