Thieves flee with cash after spate of break-ins in Kilkenny city

KILKENNY gardai are investigating whether two break-ins, just metres from each other and around the same time, were carried out by the same people.

Early Tuesday morning, two premises on the Castle Road in Kilkenny were broken into. In both incidents, the burglars forced their way into the buildings, before making off with cash.

Between 6am and 8.30am on Tuesday, the burglars targetted a veterinary clinic on the Castle Road, prying open a front window to gain access. After finding cash, they fled the scene.

Around the same time, Kilkenny Tennis Club was broken into.

Burglars forced their way in through a door at the rear of the building. They then went about disabling the CCTV, before making off with cash.

The CCTV, although damaged during the burglary, has been recovered by gardai, who are currently working on retrieve images.
