ALERT: Garda warning after spate of car break-ins across Kilkenny
By COLIN BARTLEY
KILKENNY car owners are being warned to be more careful when leaving their cars not to have any possessions left on display inside their vehicles.
The call comes from Kilkenny Garda after a noticeable increase in car burglary’s around the county in recent weeks.
The latest car break-in happened in Thomastown over the weekend, when personal items on display were taken from a family car.
The car was parked on Market Street overnight on Sunday, when a thief spotted a handbag on the back seat of the car.
The burglar smashed the back window and made off with the bag and some more personal possession lying around in the car.
Gardai in Thomastown are investigating this incident and ask anyone with information to contact them on 056 775 4150.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident last Wednesday an opportunist thief broke into a car in broad daylight and emptied it of its contents.
The grey hatchback was parked at Kilbride, Callan between 4.30pm and 5.30pm.
When the owner came out to their car, they realised the driver window was smashed and their purse stolen from the car.
