Kilkenny supermarket development to create 125 new jobs
A new supermarket development will create 25 new jobs in a county Kilkenny town.
And another 100 jobs will also come on stream during the construction phase of the new Aldi store in Castlecomer, which was given the green light by planners this week.
Aldi Ireland expect the store, its sixth in Kilkenny city and county, to be operational by next year.
The new 1,315 sqm store will be located in the centre of Castlecomer, on the site of the town’s former Creamery, just off the town’s square.
The Aldi store will be the anchor tenant in the development, which will also contain additional retail, office and residential units as part of total 52,500 square feet development. The Creamery’s historic mill building, a protected structure, will also be preserved and fully refurbished.
Aldi Regional Managing Director Colin Breslin said: “Kilkenny County Council’s decision is great news for customers. We won’t be beaten on price, and we are committed to providing the best value possible to shoppers.”
