Kilkenny Trad Fest 2019: Local favourites to Reel in the crowds on St Patrick’s Day

KILKENNY will come alive to the sound of some incredible music on St Patrick’s weekend as the Bulmer’s Live Sessions returns to Paris Texas.

The popular High Street venue will host three gigs in three days – and all of them are free.

On Friday, March 15, Yvonne Casey & Band will entertain revelers with a vibrant range of music that mirrors their individual skill and expertise across a broad canvas of genres.

Accompanying Yvonne is the renowned accordion maestro Dermot Byrne, an integral member of Altan. Completing the lineup is bouzouki player Eoin O Neill who has shared the stage with Christy Moore, Luka Bloom and Sharon Shannon.

Local legends Reel to Reel take to the stage on Sunday, March 17, with the 10-piece trad/rock band expected to raise the roof on the old bakery in Paris Texas to celebrate Paddy’s Day. Reel to Reel are synonymous with the best of traditional music on the Kilkenny scene over the past 30 years.

Caladh Nua will wrap up Kilkenny Tradfest 2019 on Monday, March 18. Caladh Nua is a tightly-knit, vibrant and staggeringly talented band, comprised of Brian Mooney (banjo, bouzouki, whistles), Lisa Butler (fiddle), Paddy Tutty (fiddle, viola, bodhrán), Derek Morrissey (button accordion) & Caoimhín Ó Fearghail (guitar, flute).
