Kilkenny’s Medieval Mile Museum shortlisted for prestigious European architecture award
KILKENNY’S Medieval Mile Museum has been shortlisted for a prestigious European architecture award.
The beautifully restored St Mary’s museum has confirmed it was shortlisted for the 2019 European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – The Mies van der Rohe Award.
It is one of just two Irish projects to receive nominations this year.
The awards celebrate the trends and opportunities in adaptive reuse, housing, and culture across Europe,
The shortlist is spread across 17 European countries. Of the 40 projects, 15 are represented in the Culture Category.
The Medieval Mile Museum said in a statement: “We are honoured to be shortlisted alongside a prestigious line up of works, and one of only two nominations in Ireland. Well done to McCullough Mulvin Architects!”
Kilkenny County Council said: “Congratulations to all at St Mary’s Medieval Mile Museum on its shortlisting for the 2019 European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture.”
