Kilkenny’s nurses meet to discuss Government pay offer
NURSES have been meeting in Kilkenny to discuss the Government’s pay offer.
Nurses and midwives met in the Newpark Hotel and their union, the INMO, said there will be further meetings in the county and across the South East before a vote on the offer which will be held between March 11 and 25.
Meetings have been set for every health service location in Kilkenny and for Waterford, Tipperary, Carlow and Wexford.
Nurses went on strike to demand action on pay and working conditions – which they said were leading to a recruitment and retention crisis in the health service.
They have been offered a deal which is set to cost €10-€15 million this year with additional costs of €30-35 million in 2020.
