LATEST: 529 new cases of virus confirmed as first dose vaccinations pass 50% of population
A further 529 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed this evening while numbers in hospitals fell significantly
The Department of Health reported 86 people are being treated for the virus in hospitals, two more than yesterday’s figures.
28 people are now being treated in Intensive Care Units, down two on yesterday’s figure.
Paul Reid, the Health Service Executive’s Chief Executive confirmed more than 2.9 million Covid-19 vaccines have been administered in Ireland, with more than half the population (53%) receiving their first dose.
However, the department warned the number of cases may change due to future data validation amid the disruption caused by the cyber attack on the HSE’s system.
