LATEST: 534 cases of virus confirmed on day Ireland passes two-million fully vaccinated mark

A further 534 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed this evening, a decrease of 47 on yesterday’s figures. It is the highest number of daily reported cases in two and a half months.

The Department of Health reported 58 people are being treated for the virus in hospitals, two less than yesterday’s total.

17 people are now being treated in Intensive Care Units, the same as yesterday’s figure.

However, the department warned the number of cases may change due to future data validation amid the disruption caused by the cyber attack on the HSE’s system.

These figures were released shortly after An Taoiseach Michéal Martin confirmed two million people in Ireland are now fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

In a tweet published this morning, he also confirmed 70% of all adults in Ireland have had at least one dose of the vaccine.
