ELECTION 2020 LATEST: Count 3 – Labour’s Denis Hynes is eliminated

Labour Party candidate, local councillor and trade union activist Denis Hynes, has been eliminated on the third count of the Carlow-Kilkenny constituency battle.

Cllr Hynes was the sole casualty of the third count at the Lyrath Estate Convention Centre tonight.

So far only poll topper Kathleen Funchion has been elected to the 33rd Dáil. She is followed by Fianna Fáil’s John McGuinness, who is now less than 100 votes off the required quota of 12,274, and Jennifer Murnane O’Connor, who is now at 9,895.

The fourth count is now underway.
