LATEST: 92 more Covid deaths as Holohan says no final plans to ‘wind down’ NPHET
A further 12.560 people have contratced Covid-19.
Of these, 5,940 were PCR-confirmed, while 6,620 were positive antigen tests registered through the HSE portal, the Department of Health confirmed this evening.
And there are now 630 patients in hospital with the virus, of whom 65 are in intensive care.
The department also confirmed it was notified of 92 deaths linked to Covid-19 in the past week, bringing the total number of virus-related deaths in Ireland to 6,228.
The latest figures comes as Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan today told the Oireachtas Health Committee there are no finalised plans regarding the “wind-down” of the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET), but it is being considered.
Dr Holohan also told members there will still be a need for a “multi-professional” advisory panel going forward.
