LATEST: Kilkenny among 270 new cases of virus as 16 further deaths confirmed

A further 16 people have died after contracting the coronavirus as 270 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed this evening.

The Department of health confirmed that 14 of these deaths occurred on November, another one in October while another fatality “remains under investigation”.

It brings the overall death toll as a result of the virus to 1,963. There are now 65,889 confirmed cases of Covid-19 across the country, according to the latest daily briefing from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPTHET).

The breakdown of the latest cases is as follows: 82 are in Dublin, 21 in Donegal, 18 in Roscommon, 17 in Limerick, 17 in Tipperary with the remaining 115 cases spread across 20 other counties, including eight more infections in Kilkenny.
