LATEST: Over 1,400 more cases of virus, 60% of people in hospital not vaccinated
A further 1,432 people have contracted the coronavirus, the Department of Health confirmed this evening.
And the number of patients being treaedt in hospital for the virus now stands at 272, a drop of 14 on yesterday. Of these, 63 are in ICU.
Health Service Executive (HSE) CEO Paul Reid earlier confirmed 60% of patients with the virus in ICUs are aged over 50, while 40% are aged between 19 and 49.
In a post on Twitter, Mr Reid said 60% of cases in ICUs are not vaccinated.
“This is striking when only 9% of adults (18+) haven’t been fully vaccinated,” he added.
