Leaving Certificate postponed until July and Junior Cert cancelled as restrictions extended for another three weeks
The Leaving Certificate has been postponed until the last week of July or until early August depending on the public health advice at that time, it has been announced.
Meanwhile, the Junior Certificate has been cancelled and will be replaced by in-school exams early in the new school year.
The reopening of schools has been suspended indefinitely while the restrictions in place to control the spread of Covid-19 are to be extended for another three weeks, until Tuesday, May 5.
The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar made the announcement this afternoon following a meeting of the National Public Health Emergency team this afternoon.
