Man hospitalised and area of city cordoned off following serious assault in Kilkenny
A man is in hospital in an unknown condition this morning following a serious assault in the Kilkenny city centre last night.
The man was seriously assaulted on Gas House Lane late last night and rushed St Luke’s General Hospital.
An area close to John’s Green in the centre of Kilkenny city has been cordoned off by Gardaí following the incident and Gashouse Lane, close to MacDonagh Junction, is closed off to traffic.
Garda have launched an investigation into the incident, so far one man was arrested last night and is being questioned in relation to the assault.
The area is expected to remain closed for the foreseeable future.
