Man rushed to St Luke’s with facial injuries after vicious city-centre attack

A MAN was rushed to St Luke’s General Hospital after he was brutally assaulted in the city-centre.

The victim was discovered lying on the ground on John Street at around 3am on Saturday by gardai who were patrolling the area, a local Garda source confirmed to KilkennyNow.ie.

It appeared the man, who is in his 30s, had collapsed on the ground after being struck in the face.

Emergency services arrived at the scene a short time later and the victim was taken to St Luke’s, where he was treated for facial injuries.

His injuries are not thought to be serious.

Investigating officers are trawling through CCTV footage near the scene in a bid to identify the attacker.

They have appealed for any witnesses to come forward to assist their investigation.
