‘Next step, a good home’ – 16 dogs and horse seized during planned operation in Kilkenny

Sixteen dogs and a horse were seized during a planned operation by gardai in Kilkenny yesterday.
Animal rescue organisations and Kilkenny County Council officials also took part in the coordinated operation.
The raid follows a series of animal neglect cases in the city, which have been highlighted by KilkennyNow.ie in recent weeks.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed trhe news on social media last night, adding: “Next stop, a good home.”
The spokesperson added: “Gardaí in Kilkenny were once again supported by animal rescue organisations and the local authority when they seized 16 dogs and 1 horse in a coordinated operation today in Kilkenny. We hugely appreciate the ongoing assistance from our colleagues in both statutory and voluntary organisations.”
Several people took to social media to praise the efforts of those involved in the operation.
One woman said: “Fantastic work. Well done. I would love to see those responsible getting a suitable sanction but I’d say our legal system will protect them!”
