Plans to deliver new €300,000 playground for Gowran revealed
LOCAL election candidate and trade unionist Denis Hynes has unveiled plans to deliver a state-of-the-art playground for the children of Gowran.
Mr Hynes, who is running in the Castlecomer Electoral Area, estimates it will cost between €250,000 to €300,000 to build the playground, but he’s confident much of this can be raised through grant supports.
The SIPTU official is chair of an 18-strong committee that came together to make the playground project a reality.
Mr Hynes (pictured above with members of the committee) said the playground will have a 300-metre track, tennis courts, a handball alley and facilities for children with special needs.
He paid tribute to the fantastic “community spirit” and determination shown by the people of Gowran to get the project kickstarted.
And Mr Hynes, who will also contest the next General Election, vowed he will stay on to make sure the project becomes a reality whether he is elected or not.
He told KilkennyNow.ie: “I’m here for the long haul. From May 24 I am the chair of the playground committee and if I don’t get elected on May 25 I’ll still be the chair of the playground committee.”
