Plans to expand two Kilkenny schools
TWO Kilkenny primary schools have lodged planning applications with the local authroity seeking to expand their facilities.
Bunscoil McAuley Rice in Callan, which currently educates nearly 900 children, is looking to add an extra classroom, an entrance hall, three Special Education Teacher (SET) rooms, and toilets.
The school opened in 2015. Due to the demand for places in the school, the board of management is seeking the new two-storey structure, which will be built onto the west end of the existing school.
Meanwhile, a second local primary school, Lisnafunchion National School in Castlecomer, which has about 50 students, is seeking planning permission for an outdoor sports facility, to include a synthetic grass playing field, a ball wall, and associated security fencing.
