Popular Kilkenny shopping centre to transform shop units into offices

Plans to convert a significant section of a popular Kilkenny shopping centre into offices has been approved by Kilkenny County Council.

The owners of MacDonagh Junction Co-Ownership and Davy Target Investing ICAV have been granted planning permission to change the use of six retail units at MacDonagh Junction Shopping Centre to office spaces.

The existing vacant ground floor retail units 4A and 4B and First Floor retail units 2, 4A ,4B and 4C, parts of which are within the former workhouse, can now be transformed into offices.

As part of the plans, management will create open-plan office spaces, private offices, private office pods, a reception area, meeting rooms, canteen, toilets, general staff facilities and stores.

The planning permission only allows for fitout works. There are no proposals to extend the height of the current building, parts of which are a protected structure.
