We loved this little gem, a beautiful stone-cut property surrounded by nature in the heart of the south Kilkenny countryside.
Lavender Barn, a soothing two-bed property that lives up to its name, dates from the 19th century and has been lovingly transformed from a derelict ruin to a light-filled and welcoming hideaway of 807 sq ft.
Outside, Lavender Barn is surrounded by landscaped gardens, which include a decking area for dining al fresco, a double hay shed and ample private parking. From the decking area, there are beautiful views of the countryside, mature trees and shrubs, making for an instantly relaxing atmosphere.
Inside, the ground floor features a split-level, open-plan design with double height ceilings and exposed stone-cut walls. Picture windows and roof windows fill the space with natural light, while wood furnishings and a wood-burning stove create a cosy and homely feel.
The kitchen is neatly fitted into a U-shaped area, with sleek, handleless cabinets installed to make the most of the space. Steps lead to the dining room, which features enough room to fit a table to seat at least six.
A feature staircase leads from the dining room to the mezzanine level, where there’s a comfortable lounge and a double bedroom.
The bedroom is a good size and features exposed stone cut walls, roof windows and views across the countryside.
Back on the ground floor, another double bedroom and bathroom, which are located down the hallway from the open-plan space, complete the accommodation.

As for location, Lavender Barn is surrounded by beautiful nature walks, with the River Nore just a short stroll away. Picture-postcard Inistioge village is a 15-minute drive away, while New Ross town can be reached in 10 minutes.
