Seven horses found in Kilkenny may be put down if owners don’t come forward

Seven horses recovered from land on the outskirts of Kilkenny city may have to be put down if their owners do not come forward by the end of this week.

Kilkenny County Council officials rescued the horses that were found roaming around on land on the outskirts of the city.

The horses, five females and two males, were recovered from the Salt Yards, Hebron Road, Kilkenny on Wednesday, September 15.

Upon inspection it was discovered that just four of the horses were microchipped and range in age from two to 12 years old.

A council spokesperson said: “Should these animals remain unclaimed after close of business on Friday, September 25, they will be sold, rehomed, or be disposed of.”
