Tax on SUV impounded by Kilkenny gardai expired 420 days ago!

The driver of this SUV had their vehicle impounded after gardai discovered its road tax expired 420 days previously.

The vehicle was stopped by gardai in Kilkenny yesterday.

Members of Unit A had earlier carried out an Operation Fanacht checkpoint. where no breaches were detacted.

However, they later came across the SUV, when the Garda Mobility App confirmed its tax had expired well over a year ago.

A local Garda spokesperson said: “Needless to say it [SUV] was impounded under Section 41 of the Road Traffic Act.”
