Man struck by car has to make his own way to hospital

A PEDESTRIAN who was injured after he was struck by a car in the city yesterday had to make his own way to hospital after he was told there would be “a long wait” for an ambulance.

The man told KCLR earlier today that he wasn’t seriously injured in the collision, but still required medical treatment.

He suffered minor injuries in the incident, which occurred at the road through Dean Cavanagh Place and Father Albert Place at around 6pm.

Local gardai attended the scene. The Garda Press Office confirmed the incident is being investigated.

A Garda spokesperson told KilkennyNow.ie tonight: “Garda are investigating a collision between a car and a pedestrian at Dean Kavanagh Place at 6pm on. Minor injuries reported.”

Gardai urged anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them on 056 777 5000.
