To the Faithful Departed – another Kilkenny legend joins Offaly’s hurling revolution

KILKENNY legend Michael Kavanagh has joined former team-mate Michael Fennelly’s management team at Offaly.

He will be joined by former Offaly hurler David Kenny and Galway native Johnny Kelly, who has enjoyed much success as a club coach as Fennelly plots the Faithful County’s campaign for the 2020 hurling championship.

The four-time All-Star winner won eight All-Ireland senior medals during his career with Kilkenny. He has also worked with the Wicklow senior hurlers in recent seasons since retiring from Kilkenny in 2011.

Michael Fennelly will be hoping his impressive looking backroom team can dramatically improve Offaly’s fortunes on the field.

Last year was a miserable season for Offaly. They lost out to Carlow in their Division 1B league relegation play-off before suffering the ignominy of relegation to the Christy Ring Cup after being defeated by Kerry.
