THE HOMECOMING: Kilkenny city to come to a standstill as teams return

KILKENNY city will come to a standstill this evening as our defeated senior and minor hurling heroes make their way home from Dublin.

A traffic management plan has been put in place for the event, which is likely to result in some traffic delays in and around the city.

The buses carrying the teams are expected to arrive at the Castle Road, Kilkenny around 6pm this evening, with Castle Road expected to be closed to traffic approximately sometime after 5.30pm.

The teams will then proceed by open-top buses to Nowlan Park via Rose Inn Street, John Street and the Hebron Road.

These roads will be closed to traffic whilst this is taking place, approximately between 6pm and 6.30pm.

O’Loughlin Road will be closed to traffic from 3pm to 6.45pm with local access off the Carlow Road. The gates of Nowlan Park are expected to open around 4pm.
