Trailer for Disney’s Artemis Fowl starring Kilkenny teen Ferdia Shaw is released
THE trailer has just been released for the new Disney film Artemis Fowl – starring talented Kilkenny teenager Ferida Shaw.
The segment shows Ferdia in the lead role of Artemis, alongside his co-stars, Lara McDonnell and Josh Gad (pictured above on set).
Ferdia landed the coveted role of the young criminal mastermind in the big-screen adaptation of Irish author Eoin Colfer’s fantasy books after beating off competition from 1,200 other boys.
The live-action adaptation will be based on the first and second instalments of Colfer’s best-selling children’s series. The Wexford author previously said he would like Saoirse Ronan to play one of the lead roles in the big-screen adaptation.
The Artemis Fowl series has sold more than 21 million copies in print in 44 languages worldwide. It focuses on the adventures of Artemis, a 12-year-old millionaire genius and criminal mastermind.
Other actors in the Kenneth Branagh directed film are Josh Gad, Judi Dench and Games of Thrones’ Nonso Anozie.
The film is due in cinemas on August 9 next year.
