Shipping news: Kilkenny port trades through global storm
Despite being in the midst of a global pandemic that has rocked the world eocnomy, the international port in south Kilkenny has only reported a very small decrease in freight going through its gates.
New figures published by the Central Statistics Office reveal the level of goods handled at the Port of Waterford in Belview fell by just 5,000 tonnes year-on-year.
A total of 1,842,000 tonnes either came through or left the South Kilkenny port, down just 0.22% on the 1,847,000 tonnes recorded in 2019.
In 2018 1,995,000 tonnes of goods were serviced by Belview.
