Kilkenny guesthouse is named in Tripadviser’s Top 10 list of Ireland’s best B&Bs
A CRITICALLY-acclaimed county Kilkenny guesthouse has made it into the top 10 of a prestigious new survey on Ireland best B&Bs.
Lawcus Farm Guest House in Stoneyford came fourth in Tripadviser’s Top 10 Irish B&Bs for 2019.
The guesthouse, owned and run by Mark and Ann-Marie Fisher, is a beautifully renovated stone farm house which offers its guests a welcoming mix of luxury and tranquillity.
Lawcus House opened for business back in 2003, around the same time Tripadviser was established, and Mark said the online travel bible has been a “saviour” for their family-run business.
He told KilkennyNow.ie: “We don’t advertise, all of our bookings come from recommendations and word of mouth, so Tripadviser has been the making of us. The reviews started coming in and since then they’ve grown and grown. The reviews are our testimonials, and they’ve helped to bring a lot of people back to Kilkenny.”
Mark met Ann-Marie 12 years ago and the husband-and-wife team, who have three children, married last year.
“It was an eight-year engagement,” laughed Mark, who clearly loves everything about the family business he and Ann-Marie has built over the past 16 years together.
“If you can work and share your passion with the people you love, you can’t go wrong,” he added.
Situated between Kelly and Stoneyford, Lawcus Farm has attracted rave reviews on Tripadviser from guests who came to Kilkenny from all corners of the globe.
And it was these glowing testimonials from very satisfied customers that propelled the county Kilkenny guesthouse close to the very top of the rankings.
Creevagh Heights in Ballina, Co Mayo, was named Ireland’s best B&B in the nationwide survey, followed by Larkinley Lodge in Killarney and Desmond House in Kinsale, Co Cork.
The survey forms part of Tripadviser’s Travellers’ Choice Awards, which are in their 17th year.
Judges determine the awards based on “millions of reviews and opinions collected in a single year from TripAdvisor travellers worldwide,” according to the online travel giant.
“They are based on feedback from actual guests over the past year,” TripAdvisor spokesperson said Hayley Coleman,
