Green light for new development of apartments in county Kilkenny town centre
A new development of 12 apartments in the centre of a county Kilkenny town has been given the green light following an extensive planning process.
Kilkenny County Council has granted planning permission for developers James Ryan and Shane Lynch to go ahead with their plans to renovate and convert a cottage and more apartments on a site at Mill Street in Callan.
Prior to approval being granted, the council went back to the developers with 16 requests for further information regarding their plans for the site, parts of which are listed on National Inventory of Architectural Heritage and on the Record of Protected Structures for Kilkenny.
The council gave the thumbs up to the project after they received a detailed 65-page response to their queries.
As part of the development, the existing cottage on the site will be renovated and converted into two apartments, one two-bedroom dwelling and another one-bed unit.
A further 10 apartments will also be built on the site. These consist of five, two-bedroom ground units and five more one-bedroom first floor dwellings.
