Best view in the city: Kilkenny’s Riverview Bar Terrace reopens after major revamp
THE revamped Riverview Bar Terrace at the Kilkenny River Court Hotel has been transformed into the city’s premier outdoor social experience.
It already boasts one of the finest views of any bar or restaurant in the country. Now the picture-postcard riverside setting – nestled under the shadow of majestic Kilkenny Castle – has undergone extensive works to make it an even more special dining and drinking experience.
To coincide with the reopening of the terrace, the adjourning Riverview Bar has unveiled a new two-course special of scrumptious home-cooked food – prepared by its team of award-winning chefs – for just €13 per person.
The new terrace, which reopened this week ahead of the busy St Patricks’ weekend, has undergone an elegant and tasteful upgrade in line with the hotel’s medieval surroundings. Beautiful new paving stones have been laid throughout the entire outdoor area.
Kilkenny River Court Hotel Sales & Marketing Manager Trish Murphy said the idea was to replicate the feeling of being at a terrace table on a Paris boulevard – without the traffic noise and fumes.
Trish tells KilkennyNow.ie: “We wanted to develop the terrace to be the most tranquil and relaxed venue in the city for anyone who wants to drop by and soak up the magical medieval surroundings.
“With the River Nore underneath and the Castle looming overhead, we are really spoiled in terms of the location. So it was just a case of bringing a new look, albeit with an old feel, that was in sync with the stunning natural backdrop, and of course to make it that extra bit more comfortable for our customers.”
The view is not the only thing that will delight visitors – the Riverview Bar is also offering incredible value for its fare. Food is a very big part of the revamped venue and the prices are among the best the city has to offer.
The food offering is a uniting force. It is the same throughout, meaning you can order a full two-course meal for just €13 at one of the bar counters, or settle into the comfortable seating areas inside the Riverview Bar Bistro or outside in the terrace’s new dining area. The friendly and efficient staff have been trained to provide the very highest levels of service to ensure your dining experiencing is a memorable one.
The Terrace is also the perfect venue for work colleagues to wind down with a few drinks on Friday evenings after a long week, and the venue is happy to accommodate bookings of all sizes at extremely competitive rates.
There is traditional music every Friday and Saturday from 10pm to late, and the Riverview Bar’s‘Lazy Afternoon’ sessions from 3pm to 5pm on Sundays are the perfect way to wind down your weekend.
The hotel and bar also provide free parking for customers, a major benefit in the often-crowded city-centre.
