Big-hearted Kilkenny gardai come to rescue of injured American tourist
TRIBUTES have been paid to two gardai who came to the rescue of an American tourist who injured herself on a day-trip to the Marble City.
Jennifer Thibault, from Dallas, Texas, badly injured her foot while visiting Kilkenny last week.
Garda Hogan and Garda Joyce from the Kilkenny Garda Community Engagement Unit were on the beat when they came across the injured tourist.
Jennifer was taken to St Luke’s General Hospital for treatment, but when the gardai called on her later in the day to see how she was getting on it became apparent she had no transport back to Dublin as her bus had left.
The caring Kilkenny gardai weren’t about to leave her stranded, so they decided to drop the injured visitor back to her accommodation in Dublin.
Kilkenny gardai wished Jennifer well on social media, saying: “Get well soon Jennifer and enjoy the rest of your trip to Ireland.”
The actions of the gardai were praised by some of Jennifer’s compatriots. Pat Corbitt Smithfield responded on social media: “The Great State of Texas thanks you for taking care of our young lady. Hugs to you!”
