Boy (8) attacked by Rottweiler dogs at his home dies

An eight-year-old boy who was attacked by two dogs at his home in Tallaght, Dublin over the weekend has died.

The boy was attacked by two Rottweiler dogs at around 4pm on Sunday afternoon.

The dog warden was notified and the dogs were confiscated and put to sleep.

The emergency services responded to a 999 call at a house in Tallaght around 4pm. When they got there, they discovered the boy with life-threatening injuries.

The child was treated at the scene and taken to Tallaght University Hospital. He was later transferred to Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin.

However, gardai today confirmed the boy had died from his injuries.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed: “The male child (8) who was seriously injured yesterday Sunday 22nd March 2020 following a reported attack by a number of dogs in the Tallaght area passed away this morning Monday 23rd March 2020 at Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) at Crumlin.”
