Man arrested after kicking moving car on John’s Bridge and assaulting driver

A MAN was arrested after he kicked a car in the city-centre before attacking the driver.

The incident occurred on John’s Bridge at around 8.20pm last Tuesday, March 5.

It is understood the suspect was walking over John’s Bridge before he stepped out onto the road and kicked the front of an approaching vehicle.

The driver got out of the car to confront the man, but he was then assaulted. Gardai confirmed the suspect punched the driver a number of times in the head, leaving him with facial injuries that required medical attention.

Gardai arrived at the scene a short time later and arrested the suspect. He was detained at Kilkenny Garda Station.

The suspect appeared at Carlow District Court the following day where he was charged with assault and public order offences.

He was remanded on bail to appear before Kilkenny District Court on April 16.
