LATEST: Taoiseach says we’re ‘learning to live’ with Covid as over 3,000 new cases confirmed

A further 3,024 more poeple have contracted the coronavirus, the Department of Heath confirmed this evening.

And the number of patients now being treated in hospital with the virus now stands at 458, of which 90 are in ICUs.

The latest figures were confirmed as Taoiseach Micheál Martin said Ireland ‘is learning to live’ with Covid-19.

Speaking on his way into a Cabinet meeting, Mr Martin said there are indications the booster programme is having an impact.
